On Saturday, April 26, 2025, the Park Streamers—Berry Place 28, Cordy in California, and Theme Park Casual—had the incredible honor of attending the premiere of “Bob Gurr: Living by Design” at the historic Alex Theatre in Glendale, California. From red carpet excitement to meeting legends of theme park design and Disney history, the night was an unforgettable celebration of creativity and innovation.

Directed by Frank H. Woodward, this compelling documentary offers a powerful and intimate portrait of Bob Gurr—one of the original Imagineers who helped bring Walt Disney’s vision of Disneyland to life. Known for designing iconic attractions like the Monorail, Autopia cars, and Doom Buggies, Gurr’s genius forever shaped the landscape of theme park entertainment. The film explores both his groundbreaking work and the spirited personality that made him such a beloved figure in the Disney community.

The film features appearances from a powerhouse cast of creatives including Don Hahn, Garner Holt, Jay Leno, Tom Morris, and Justin Scarred, each offering heartfelt insight into Bob Gurr’s remarkable legacy.

The Park Streamers also had the opportunity to connect with Justin Scarred, Garner Holt, legendary Disney animator Floyd Norman, and former Walt Disney Imagineer Chris Merritt.

To top off the evening, Chris Merritt took the stage for a special Q&A session following the film. His insights into the creative process, the history of Imagineering, and his personal experiences working with Bob Gurr offered the audience a rare glimpse into the world behind the magic. It was an inspiring and enriching conversation that added even more depth to an already unforgettable night.

The Alex Theatre, with its art deco charm and cinematic history, provided the perfect setting for a night dedicated to storytelling, imagination, and honoring one of the great minds behind the magic.

Berry Place 28 was named after the “Berry Place” market that Walter and Cordelia Knott opened in 1928 and after Mickey Mouse which was created in 1928.
